When Happy Hogan Will Return To The MCU, According To Jon Favreau
The debut of Avengers: Infinity War means a lot of different things for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chief among these developments is the convergence of several fan-favorite Marvel heroes and villains. With so many side characters showing up to lend a hand, it looks like we won't actually see Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan until next year when Avengers 4 (which still doesn't have an officially released title) premieres. Speaking at the Infinity War premiere in Los Angeles, Favreau said:
I'm not in this movie. Spoiler alert, but I'm an executive producer. And I'm in... I think I can say I'm in the next movie, Avengers 4. Is that fair to say?
It has been almost one year since we last saw Happy Hogan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tony Stark's friend and loyal bodyguard played a prominent role in the training of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming and that film ended with the general suggestion that he would continue to work for Tony for the foreseeable future. The character is apparently nowhere to be found when Thanos officially comes to town in search of the Infinity Stones, but he will appear next year when Phase 3 finally comes to a head with Avengers 4.
Despite his confirmation that he's appearing in Avengers 4, Jon Favreau's remarks to Marvel Entertainment on the Avengers: Infinity War premiere carpet still leave us with more questions than answers. One of the most pressing queries of all is the debate over when Avengers 4 will even be called, as Favreau made sure to joke that it would just be referred to as Avengers: Untitled.
Of course, Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan isn't the only member of the Iron Man corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe who's set up to appear in the fourth Avengers movie. Specifically, Gwyneth Paltrow is set to reprise her longstanding role as Pepper Potts, and Ty Simpkins is rumored to return as Harley Keener (the kid who helped Tony in Iron Man 3) for an appearance, as well. All things considered, it's becoming increasingly clear that Avengers 4 may have a strong focus on Tony and his supporting cast, so we will have to wait and see what happens.
For now, it looks like audiences are going to have to keep waiting for Happy Hogan's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
