What Die Hards Holly And Al Are Doing Today, According To Bonnie Bedelia And Reginald VelJohnson

It's been a minute since fans last saw both Holly McClane and Sgt. Al Powell. The two characters both had key parts of play in both Die Hard and its first sequel, Die Harder, but we sadly haven't seen them in the 28 years since. Given that we know what John McClane has been up to, it's easy to wonder what they've been doing -- and fortunately I recently got both Bonnie Bedelia and Reginald VelJohnson to offer their thoughts on the story. Bedelia told me,

Holly got remarried. There have been other _Die Hard_s since then, and she's not there. And the daughter's there. So if she was still in the picture, it would be different. And, you know, she's too lovely to be alone for long.

This summer marks the 30th anniversary of the original Die Hard, and last week I had the opportunity to celebrate the occasion by not only taking a tour of the legendary Fox Plaza a.k.a. Nakatomi Plaza, but also sit down with Bonnie Bedelia and Reginald VelJohnson. We had a great little chat about the film's status as a Christmas movie, their interactions with fans, and even a bit about the love for the original shown on Brooklyn Nine-Nine (more on that to come) -- but I concluded the interview with the aforementioned question, asking what they thought Holly and Al are doing today.

Bonnie Bedelia was first to answer, and offered that Holly is possibly neither Holly McClane nor Holly Gennaro anymore, and has instead remarried after being divorced from John. Pointing to the fact that their daughter, Lucy, is featured in Live Free Or Die Hard (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead), the actress thinks that Holly probably moved on from her New York cop husband, and found someone else who perhaps doesn't spend so much time dangling from skyscrapers on fire hoses and running around New York solving puzzles.

As for Al Powell, Reginald VelJohnson imagines a quiet life for his Die Hard character. He apparently experienced more than enough excitement during his career as a cop, and has decided to settle down with his family and simply reflect fondly on the day the Nakatomi Corporation's Christmas party was interrupted by a gang of international thieves. Said Vel Johnson,

Al, I think he retired, of course. He's become a sedentary - he sits on his porch. But the experience was mind blowing to him, and he'll never have another experience... never going to top that.

Of course, the adventures of Holly Gennaro McClane and Al Powell will forever live in the annals of cinematic history, and fans will always be able to look back on their adventures in both Die Hard and Die Hard 2. The former just recently released a brand new 30th anniversary edition, including a 4K restoration, and copies are now available everywhere.

John Wick 3's Halle Berry Broke Three Ribs Trying To Keep Up With Keanu Reeves

Next month, the John Wick series continues with John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum. The action franchise is known for its slick choreography and its star Keanu Reeves' willingness to throw himself into the thick of it. Halle Berry also stars in the new film and she gets in on the action herself, but when you star opposite Reeves in an action movie, you gotta brace for some bruises. However, Berry ended up breaking three of her ribs, and she doesn't even know how it happened.

John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum finds John Wick on the run from every assassin in New York City and beyond. He'll turn to whatever connections and friends he has left in order to survive the whole ordeal, and that's where Berry's character comes in. Halle Berry plays Sofia, an assassin and close friend of John who decides to help him.

Not a whole lot else is known, but seeing as how this is a John Wick movie, Sofia will be getting in on the action. It sounds like Berry did a portion of the stunts herself, but trying to keep up with Keanu Reeves led to some minor injury. Berry loved working with Reeves and told Extra what the experience was like and how it led to her injury:

It was pretty amazing [to work with Keanu]. It was a little terrifying at first because hes so damn good, and I wanted to be on the same level as him. I didnt want to disappoint him. I broke three ribs when I was rehearsing for John Wick Its like a badge of honor for me, we dont know how it happened.

To prepare for Parabellum, Halle Berry was doing stunt training, gun training, dog training, and strength training. She was covering every angle, so you can see how rehearsal might lead to injury.

Thankfully, it doesn't sound like it was serious at all or slowed down production much. Halle Berry noted that director Chad Stahelski waited for her to get better rather than replace her with someone without three broken ribs:

I worked for a little while with broken ribs until I could no longer do it. For me, what made me most happy is I thought when that happened, 'OK, I'm out of the movie.' They're going to replace me. The show has to go on. But to [director] Chad's credit, he waited for me to heal, when I came back I felt better.

Jason Momoa Talks Filming In The Freezing Cold For Aquaman

It's a well-known fact that working on superhero movies can be a little over-the-top, given CGI sequences, tight costumes and more. As Aquaman, Jason Momoa knew he'd have to spend some time in water, specifically in cold water in Iceland during the film's months shooting. But knowing something was coming and actually accomplishing it are two different things. The actor recently revealed what happened when he filmed in freezing cold water for the upcoming Aquaman film:

It doesn't look like it, but it was cold... I was out there for a while so I had a really thin wetsuit that you put on so you wouldn't freeze to death. It's funny because I actually went out--they had a nice crane shot that went out there in front of me--and I was walking out, but you know if you have a wet suit on the air kind of gets trapped in there. You're just walking out and the bubbles start coming up... like you farted, you know?

Doesn't everything boil back to a fart joke? While speaking on The Graham Norton Show over the weekend, Jason Momoa started talking about getting into the cold water with only a thin wetsuit to back him up. At first, the actor thought the bubbles forming due to the wetsuit was just amusing, but then he made a huge mistake: adjusting the wetsuit. According to Momoa,

The camera's right there and I started giggling because of the bubbles, and then I opened it up to let the air out and then all the cold came in. So my reactions was [giggling then startled]. Many emotions went through me.

Jason Momoa also iterated how cold it was over and over, although Graham Norton amusingly told the actor that he "looked relaxed."

Jason Momoa has previously talked about being uncomfortable on set whilst playing Aquaman. At the time, he joked that getting in and out of Arthur Curry's superhero suit caused some problems in the bathroom department, although he later stated that was all a joke and the suit was fine. It was the wetsuit that apparently caused some real troubles.

Having said this, we all know how uncomfortable superhero suits can be on occasion, especially when they are tight. Stephen Amell, of DC's TV universe, recently experienced this when he had to throw on Grant Gustin's tight costume for The Flash. We'll get to see how Jason Momoa looks in Aquaman's classic duds when the movie officially hits the schedule on December 21.
