Dakota Johnson Says Filming Fifty Shades Sex Scenes Was Tedious

Surprisingly enough, even Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey had some trouble shaking it up in the bedroom. The Fifty Shades franchise concluded earlier this year with Fifty Shades Freed, and in retrospect, Dakota Johnson recently admits that it became a bit tiresome filming one sultry scene after the other. In her words:

Shooting two films back to back, where the majority is the same, over and over, did get a little bit tedious. It became, 'how are we going to make this goddamn sex scene better than the other ones?' There's only so much you can do when the film is rated R. It was tricky.

The Fifty Shades franchise may have tackled eroticism such as BDSM, but it was over three installments with often lukewarm storylines to accompany it. Even with an R-rating, the franchise could only go so far and as you can imagine, it got a little ridiculous for its leads Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan after a while. In her interview with The Times, Johnson confessed that it was difficult at times to continue with the franchise much because it "shape-shifted" into something different than she initially thought it would.

While the Fifty Shades franchise receives a lot more flack and stigma than most, each installment surpassed $100 million domestically at the box office, making it a strong success that had its fans still fascinated by the passionate romance between Anastasia and Christian. As the actors move on from their most recognizable roles thus far, Dakota Johnson still finds that the experience was worth some uncomfortableness. Johnson isn't regretful for the role, describing that the franchise turned out great and just as it was supposed to. She continued with:

But it was a challenge I'm not ashamed of and I'm infinitely grateful to... I learned so much about my personal resilience.

Following Fifty Shades Freed, Dakota Johnson has taken on differently dark new roles that has tested her resilience again. While filming the conclusion for Anastasia Steele, Johnson was also hard at work learning to be a dancer for the terrifying remake of Suspiria, a film so intense for her that she said she had to go to therapy after. The upcoming horror film starring Johnson has been receiving rave reviews for nightmarish retelling of the 1977 movie.

Dakota Johnson also appears in the new star studded neo-noir crime thriller, Bad Times at the El Royale, where the actress plays a quietly suspicious woman who checks into a rundown hotel full of twists and turns. Considering Johnson has three starring roles this year alone, her resilience is more apparent than ever. Bad Times at the El Royale is in theaters now and Suspiria comes out on October 26.

Why Avengers: Infinity War Didn't Bring In Ant-Man In The Post-Credits Scene

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been through dark times before, but arguably none have been as sad as the final minutes of Avengers: Infinity War. With the power of all six Infinity Stones, Thanos snapped his fingers and wiped out half of all life in the universe, and we watched many heroes we've grown familiar with over the years fade away. But it wasn't all bad news, as Infinity War's post-credits scene teased the arrival of Brie Larson's Captain Marvel. Still, with Ant-Man and the Wasp being Marvel's next movie, some may have wondered why the Infinity War post-credits scene didn't feature Paul Rudd's Scott Lang to tease his next appearance. Regarding that, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely decided that tonally Ant-Man just wasn't a good fit after all the heaviness of Infinity War. As they put it:

Christopher Markus: When you end it like that, there aren't too many extra places you can go. A lot of the time, Marvel's tags have pointed to the next movie coming or something like that. Well the next movie coming is Ant-Man and the Wasp, which by the nature of that franchise is light-hearted. You don't wanna go, 'But meanwhile! Remember Paul Rudd? Still adorable!' Tonally everything was wrong.Stephen McFeely: We wanted to give a little hope to people, and that was the best way we could think of to do it.

This franchise has never been one to shy away from humor, but Ant-Man is definitely one of the more comical heroes in the MCU. That's not to say he isn't important or doesn't have serious moments, but with Avengers: Infinity War, it probably wouldn't have worked well in the post-credits scene after seeing all that devastation for Scott Lang to suddenly grow back to normal size, take off his helmet and ask, "What did I miss?" Fortunately for fans of the character, there's only a few months left until Ant-Man and the Wasp's hits the silver screen, and with marketing kicking up a notch, it's not like people don't know Scott and crimefighting partner Hope van Dyne will soon be back.

As Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely also mentioned during their interview with Collider, it was always the plan for the Avengers: Infinity War post-credits scene to reference Captain Marvel, and it did so in an intriguing way. Seeing people vanish around him, including his second-in-command, Maria Hill, Nick Fury quickly went to his car and activated a special pager-looking device he too disappeared. The camera zoomed in on the device on the ground, and the Captain Marvel insignia appeared to show that Fury's distress signal had been sent. Next year, the MCU is winding the clock back to the 1990s to show Carol Danvers' origin story in the Captain Marvel movie, during which time she'll meet Nick Fury. Two months later, Carol will fly into action in the present day to assist the surviving heroes in Avengers 4.

No, Ray Fisher Isn't Quitting As DC's Cyborg

For over a year now, Warner Bros' DC film universe has been plagued with the question of whether or not Ben Affleck would return as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves' Batman film, with rumors pointing to the actor leaving the role. That remains an open question, but a new rumor going around claimed another Justice League actor would depart DC's cinematic universe: Ray Fisher. Fortunately this rumor has been cleared up right away. Ray Fisher has confirmed that he isn't quitting as DC's big screen Cyborg, saying:

I don't usually engage the rumor-mill, but it's recent turn may be worth a little grist: I am NOT, nor do I have ANY intention of, leaving Cyborg. Furthermore, if/when the time comes for me to hangup my all-too-revealing mocap onesie, you will hear it from me directly. #BORGLIFE

There you have it, Ray Fisher is not quitting as Cyborg. It was cool of him to take to Twitter to address this rumor right away before it got out of hand. It's better to just nip it in the bud and move on. Fisher even included the hashtag "#BORGLIFE," seemingly letting fans know that he is all in on the character as long as there is a place for him in DC's films. And should anything change, he indicated he will be sure to let the fans know. So until that happens, there is no cause for concern.

The genesis of this rumor seems to have been less one specific thing and more a confluence of factors that people thought pointed to Cyborg and Ray Fisher's exit. For one thing, the Cyborg solo movie was initially scheduled for a 2020 release date, but given the various shakeups at DC and the fact that we haven't heard much on that film in a while, some people presume that it isn't going to happen. Also, it sounds like Cyborg originally had a bigger part in Justice League that may have set up his solo outing. Another factor is that the DC Universe streaming service series Doom Patrol recently cast Joivan Wade as Cyborg. That in and of itself is no big deal since DC's film and television universes are independent, but there is reason to believe that DC doesn't want to do as much double dipping in the film and TV universes, as evidenced by Arrow supposedly being no longer allowed to use Deathstroke.

You can see how some of this might lead people to believe that Ray Fisher's Cyborg is on his way out, but there is no real reason to think that yet, and we should take Ray Fisher at his word. Justice League actor Joe Morton has even suggested that some of the deleted Cyborg scenes from that film will contribute to the character's solo outing. Even if the Cyborg movie gets kicked down the road a ways or is cancelled entirely, that doesn't mean that the character will be gone from the DCEU. Plenty of MCU characters don't have solo films and still exist and prove a valuable part of that universe. Ray Fisher's Cyborg would be a great supporting player opposite someone like Flash.

The DCEU is still finding its footing and it's entirely possible that even it doesn't know exactly what the plan for Cyborg is yet. But until we hear otherwise, it looks like Ray Fisher is still your big screen Victor Stone.
